On May 17th, the U.S. Census Bureau released 2006 State Age, Sex, Race, and Hispanic or Latino Origin population estimates. Montana's median age was 39.2 in 2006 compared to 37.5 in 2000
Between April 1, 2000 and July 1, 2006...
- the under age 18 years population declined 5.3%
- the 18 to 64 years age group grew 8.2%
- the 25 to 44 year age group declined 5.0%
- the 65 years and over population grew 8.0%
- the 85 years and over population grew 23.9%
- American Indian and Alaska Native population grew by 7.8%
- Hispanic or Latino Origin population grew by 31.7%
